Attorney Dr. Yisgav Nakdimon deals with communication and media law, defamation suits, privacy law, copyright and trademark laws, broadcaster rights, Internet laws, gag orders, freedom of speech and of the press, freedom of information, petitions to the High Court of Justice and to administrative courts, cases involving white collar offenses, commercial litigation, class actions, and labor laws.
Attorney Dr. Nakdimon has special expertise in the area of abuse of process defense, which combines the practice of criminal law with that of administrative and constitutional law, and in the law of privileges. Attorney Dr. Nakdimon is the author of the book Abuse of Process, which is the premier legal work in Israel on the subject, quoted in hundreds of rulings of the Supreme Court, district courts, Magistrates’ courts, and military tribunals. Attorney Dr. Nakdimon also published Journalist’s Privilege, a book based on his doctoral thesis and cited in rulings of the Supreme Court.
Since 1998 (with the exception of 2009-2010, when he served as a judge in Magistrates’ Court in the Central District), Attorney Dr. Nakdimon has been serving as the legal counsel of the Channel 2 news corporation. In this capacity, Attorney Dr. Nakdimon attends to all legal issues of the corporation, including representation in the courts in all instances in cases of defamation, protection of privacy, Internet laws, copyright, broadcaster rights, gag orders, freedom of speech and of the press, freedom of information, and labor laws. He provides legal advice the Board of Directors of the corporation and routine legal advice on various operations of the company on television (as part of Channel 2 and the Knesset Channel), over the Internet (as part of the Mako and Reshet sites), and on mobile media (news apps). He represents the company in Knesset legislative procedures in the area of communication (e.g., amendments to the Defamation Law, 1965, the Privacy Protection Act, 1981, the Courts Act (Consolidated Version), 1984, the Penal Code, 1977, the Second Authority for Television and Radio Law, 1990, and the Television and Broadcasting Act (subtitles and sign language), 2005). He represents the corporation at regulatory proceedings before various authorities (Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Communications, the Second Authority for Television and Radio), and in the preparation of tenders and all related procedures, and provides legal support for contractual engagements in Israel and abroad.
Between 1994-1998, Attorney Dr. Nakdimon worked as a lawyer in the office of then attorney, today Supreme Court Justice, Hanan Melcer, and represented institutional and private clients in large-scale administrative, criminal, and civil cases before the Supreme Court, district courts, and Magistrates’ courts.
Since 2003, Attorney Dr. Nakdimon has been an adjunct lecturer at the Law School of the College of Management, teaching courses in communication law, regulation of communication, and abuse of process. Between 2007-2010, he was adjunct lecturer at the Sha’arei Mishpat College. Between 2004-2005, he served as a teaching fellow at the Faculty of Law at the University of Haifa. Attorney Dr. Nakdimon lectures on issues of abuse of process, media law, Internet laws, freedom of expression, freedom of information, and ethics at training courses, conferences and seminars; among others, at the following venues: the Institute of Advanced Judicial Studies, the Institute of Continuing Legal Education of the Bar Association, the College of Practical Law of the Tel-Aviv and Central District Committee of the Israel Bar Association, the Israel Democracy Institute, the Center for Law and Communication at Bar-Ilan University, the Israel Communication Association, the Israel Association for Law and Society, the Eilat Journalism Conference, the Jezreel Valley College, the Press Council, the Institute of Advanced Studies for Lawyers and Legal Advisors of the Ministry of Justice, prosecutors’ seminars, public defenders’ seminars, the Military Court of Appeals, the Military Law School, and the Military School of Communication.
In addition to two legal books, Attorney Dr. Nakdimon published numerous articles in professional journals and in the press on a variety of legal issues.
Attorney Dr. Nakdimon has a license to practice law since 1994.
In the course of 1992-1994, Attorney Dr. Nakdimon was an intern at the then attorney, currently Supreme Court Justice Hanan Melcer.
Attorney Dr. Nakdimon has an LLB degree from Tel-Aviv University (1992), an LLM degree cum laude from Tel-Aviv University (1999), and a PhD degree from the University of Haifa Law School (2012).
