Attorney Prof. Ariel Bendor, professor at the Faculty of Law of Bar-Ilan University and former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Haifa, specializes as an attorney in litigation and legal counsel in matters of public law in the broadest sense. Between 1992-2008, Attorney Prof. Bendor served as a member of the academic staff of the Faculty of Law at the University of Haifa, and among others served as Dean of the Faculty, Dean of Students of the University, member of the Executive Committee of the University, and member of the University Senate. Since 2008, Attorney Prof. Bendor is member of the academic staff of the Faculty of Law at Bar-Ilan University, and served, among others, as member of the Supreme Committee for Appointments and Promotions of the University, member of the Appeals Committee of the University in matters of appointments and promotions, head of the publishing house of the Faculty of Law, head of the Center for Communication and Law, and member of the University Senate. Since 2012, Prof. Bendor serves also as chair of the law area in the Council for Higher Education. Between 2009-2014, Attorney Prof. Bendor served as chair of the Association of Public Law in Israel. Between 2000-2003, he served as member of the Subcommittee for the Child and Family of the Committee on Children’s Rights of the Ministry of Justice, and authored (with Professor Shulamit Almog) the legal part of the report Israel submitted to the UN in compliance with the CRC. Between 2006-2012, he served as head of the committee reviewing the policy on requests for gag orders on behalf of the police commissioner. Between 2006-2014, he served as external director of Issta Lines, Ltd., and since 2009 he is member of the Board of Directors of the Landau Fund of the National Lottery. Since 1994, Attorney Prof. Bendor has served as judge in the army reserves, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, and since 2013 he serves as judge in the Military Court of Appeals.
Attorney Prof. Bendor is the author of three books and over 70 research articles published in legal journals and scholarly books worldwide.
Attorney Prof. Bendor has a license to practice law since 1989.
In the course of 1988-1989, Attorney Prof. Bendor was an intern with Supreme Court Justice Shlomo Levin, and in 1989 was an intern with Attorney Dr. Mishael Cheshin, at the time when Dr. Cheshin was in private practice; he also worked briefly as an employee of the Cheshin Law Offices.
Attorney Prof. Bendor has an LL.B. degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1988), an L.LD. degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1994).
